a Berber rug that looks like the Kilim Sumak but which is really rare, made in silk by hand in North Africa, on the Moroccan coast, a rug that is 170x 216cm called "sabra"

The origins of the Berber art carpet date back to the Paleolithic era (see Barbatti's book, below). For centuries, it has been women and young girls who have perpetuated the same weaving traditions, on the same types of looms. The different models and ornaments all have a symbolic origin related to religion, nature, beliefs and the imagination of Berber culture. They have been passed down through the generations from mother to daughter. Authentic Berber carpets are unique pieces made by hand for domestic use and in the purest tradition. This has been threatened since the turn of the century by the gradual sedentarization of the great nomadic tribes, but at the same time we are witnessing a renewal of the forms of expression and the materials used.
